HARRISBURG - Rep. Sheryl Delozier (R-Cumberland) will host a car seat safety check on Thursday, June 6, from 4-7 p.m., at L.B. Smith Ford, 1100 Market St., Lemoyne.

Local law enforcement will be on hand to ensure that child safety seats are properly secured in vehicles. Parents and caregivers also will be instructed on the correct installation procedures.

“Car crashes are the leading cause of death for children ages 1 to 13. A properly installed car seat can protect a child in a crash and reduce injuries,” Delozier said. “Events like the ones planned for June 6 give families peace of mind knowing their seats are installed correctly after they are evaluated by trained personnel.”

Pennsylvania law requires all children under the age of 4 to be fastened in a car seat while riding in a vehicle. Until the age of 2, children must be rear facing. Children ages 4 through 7 must be in an approved booster seat when riding in a vehicle.

No appointment is needed for those attending the car seat safety check.
