HARRISBURG – Rep. Sheryl M. Delozier (R-Cumberland) recently was appointed by House Speaker Mike Turzai (R-Allegheny) to the Pennsylvania Commission on Crime and Delinquency (PCCD) for the remainder of the 2017-18 legislative session.
“I’m proud to be asked to join the PCCD,” Delozier said. “With my prior experience on the board of Domestic Violence Services of Cumberland and Perry Counties and my work with victims of sexual assault with the YWCA of Greater Harrisburg, I know firsthand the affect victimization can have on a person. In addition, I have sponsored a number of bills to give victims a voice in the system, as well as sponsored legislation that would seal from public view the criminal record of an individual who committed a minor crime and has paid his or her debt to society. We must work to balance the rights of victims and rehabilitation of criminal defendants.”
The PCCD is a collaboration of public servants and private citizens representing all aspects of criminal justice and juvenile justice. The commission’s mission is to enhance the quality and coordination of criminal and juvenile justice systems, to facilitate the delivery of services to victims of crime and to increase the safety of our communities. In addition, PCCD initiates, validates and financially supports justice-related programs put forth by practitioners and experts in the justice system.
The 88th Legislative District in Cumberland County includes Lower Allen and Upper Allen townships and the boroughs of Lemoyne, Mechanicsburg, New Cumberland, Shiremanstown and Wormleysburg.
