Delozier Reacts to 2024-25 Budget Proposal

Feb. 06, 2024 / Embed

Unfortunately, I felt the speech given by the governor today was a political speech, not a budget address. It didn’t address the issues that are important to the people in my district. The governor presented a $48.34 billion plan for our Commonwealth that is a starting point. While there are aspects of his proposal I support, my main concerns are regarding the increase in the level of state spending from this current year by 8.4%. The governor spends all the one-time dollars we have saved from federal stimulus over the years on recurring costs that we don’t have the money to pay for in future years. That leaves the taxpayers footing the bill. I look forward to working toward a responsible final product that respects Pennsylvania’s taxpayers.

House Republicans React to IFO Budget Comments

Jan. 31, 2024 / Embed

On Jan. 31, I attended a hearing with the Independent Fiscal Office (IFO), an organization that provides revenue projections along with impartial analysis of fiscal, economic and budgetary issues to assist the General Assembly with policy decisions. Officials from IFO testified about state spending, as well as the increase it has seen in the cost of food, housing and energy. I am also concerned by the jump in consumer debt and what that means about individuals and families' ability to make ends meet. I look forward to more conversations about spending following the budget address on Feb. 6.
